Philadelphia Cheesesteak:
I was a United States Marine for ten years and as such, I've been all around the world. As a true Philadelphian, born in Abington Hospital and raised all over the Philadelphia Area including the Poconos, the Shore, the Great Northeast and Montgomery County, I've tried to sample a Cheesesteak in every location where I saw the word "Philly" on a menu. I've had Cheesesteaks in Greece, Japan, Israel, Norway, Kenya, Tanzania, St. Maarten, Mexico, UAE, and even on a ship out at sea. Other foreign countries I've had Cheesteaks at include, Memphis, Atlanta, and Oklahoma. I've had them in Truck Stops, I've had them in diners, delis, sleazy bars and four-star establishments. In all, I have probably consumed several thousand of the most beautiful and disgusting adaptations of the Philadelphia Cheesesteak from the four corners of the earth, and I was planning to write out all of the screwed up versions in the last part of this but I started to get sick just thinking about that steak and cheese sandwich i had on NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach and I realized I had to stop before I recalled the soggy mess I had in the Memphis International Airport back in 1991. Maybe some day I'll have the strength to outline all of the screw-ups out there but today, I don't have the strength.
