Derivation of Aliases, case of David Patrone:

Ciaciadone:  David's rifle instructor as a child in Boy Scouts was an Italian translator named "Animal".  He often used this name for David.  In Italian its general intent loosely means someone who talks a lot and is usually full of bull#$(*.  Pronounced kya -kya -dohn with the first accent on the first syllable and the secondary accent on the last syllable.  This refers to David's habit of talking too much (among other things).

Willy B is a nickname derived from David's first roommate in the Marines who always called him "Willy": an absolutely psycho bastard named Rene Roman Benedit (Otherwise known as "Chico" or "Chino").  The "B" is often mistaken as standing for "Blues" or representing the first letter of his middle name (coincidentally, one of David's nephews' middle name actually is Blues)   Though these are both plausible and valid, they are not true.  Due to his experiences with the Marines, Mensa, Music, firsthand knowledge of many different areas of the world, and an uncanny ability to remember utterly useless knowledge, David is pretty damn good at trivia.  In 1994, after being called Willy for a few years, David was sitting in a Sports Bar in Beaufort, South Carolina named "Pings" playing NTN Trivia.  When he tried to get a permanent account, "Willy" was already taken.  As a joke, David took the handle WillyB which intentionally happened to be the name of a locally famous Gorilla in the Atlanta Zoo; "Willie B"   watched TV for 17 years in a cage until they finally released him into a decent enclosure with a couple of nice females and they had five kids.(He recently passed away: Feb 3, 2000 and the very next week, the city of Atlanta promptly declared Feb 10, Willie B Day.  If you don't believe it, check out this link: http://www2.state.ga.us/Legis/1999_00/leg/fulltext/sr545.htm ).  Since David kept beating everyone in the bar, he thought it would be funny to have a famous ape besting the local redneck talent.  When he moved to California in 1996, nobody knew of the Ape and after quickly becoming the highest scorer on NTN in Rookies Sports Bar, Oceanside, the name "Willy B" stuck.

Midnight Patrone is one example of a person's "Porn" name.  Taking the name of your first pet as your first name and your Mother's maiden name as your last, you come upon the name you should use if you are ever involved in Adult Entertainment.

Two-tone Patrone refers to David's habit of wearing two-tone shoes.  He is often and incorrectly referred to as "Spats."  One night while at The Butcher Shop Restaurant in San Diego a waitress once commented that she didn't recognize him without his two-tones, whereupon she promptly dubbed him "Two-tone Patrone."

Spats is David's least favorite nickname because he doesn't wear them and dislikes correcting people when they say, "Hey Spats!" or , "Nice spats buddy!"  People often confuse spats, a cloth covering over the top half of a shoe (originally intended to keep dirt and rocks from getting into ankle-height shoes), with a two-tone leather shoe (Referred to in the old days as "Spectators").   Though he has searched high and low for an acceptable pair of spats, he hasn't found any that he likes.  They're a pain in the ass to clean as well.

Kilimanjaro:  Bartenders in San Diego often greet David with this moniker in reference to his attempt to climb the tallest Mountain on the African Continent in March of 2000.  It is reported that two bartenders at The Butcher Shop, Pasquale and John, originally didn't believe that David had actually gone to Tanzania.  They assumed he was joking when, after being questioned about his absence for the prior two weeks, he replied, "I just got back from climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro."  Unfortunately, David couldn't summit due to a severe case of altitude sickness (HACE).  This disappointment and the obvious discomfort of the memory of said disappointment doesn't seem to deter these two hearty fellows from shouting "Hey Kilimanjaro!" every time David walks into the bar.

Al Patrone:  The head bouncer at Martini Ranch (Manny) always calls David this in reference to the notorious villain Al Capone.   Manny often refers to him as "Provolone" as well.

Pastrami:  Joe Marillo, a fellow vocalist, saxophonist and musician of great renown, who often used to frequent Martini Ranch, was colorfully discussing David with some of the bouncers there one night and referred to him as David Pastrami.  The name seems to have stuck among the bouncers of this establishment.  Especially with Manny.  That bastard.

Sinatra:  Jeff Ladman of Nunu's Bar in Hillcrest always writes this at the top of David's tab.  At closing time, Jeff yells out, "Hey Sinatra!  15 Bucks!"

Pepi, Pepsi, Papillio:  David's crazy piano player, Mikan, is always calling him this.  We're not sure why, it probably means "Godlike Creature" in Serbian, which is where he's from.  If you ever run into him, you can say the standard Serbian greeting: Kako si siso, derpe, pushi-ga, !  you will have to pronounce it like this: kah-ko say see-so, dehr-pey, pooh-shi-gah, !  Disclaimer: Whatever you do, don't say this to any Serbian you don't know, or at least to one who doesn't know that you don't know Serbian (Seh-rup-ski).
